At the boutique Pellicce Canali, situated in the heart of Milan, you will find a vast assortment of fox furs. Fox fur has thick, silky, and much longer hair compared to other animals. It comes in a variety of colours which are the result of selective breeding and crossbreeding. The most famous and valuable is the silver fox, followed by the platinum fox and croisé fox. The Scandinavian breeding farms Saga produce in limited quantities other crossbred foxes which, based on their colour, get their original names: the most popular are Northern Light, Golden Island, Fawn Light, and Sun Glow. These foxes have a light-coloured base and beige-brown golden streaks in the centre. Another well-known kind is the blue arctic fox of Greenland which is less pricey and thus has become one of the consumers’ favourites.
